His brother starred at Indiana University before moving on to the Dallas Cowboys. While he wasn’t quite as highly-regarded early on, Cameron Knight continued to work on his game until he received the offer he coveted most. Once the Indiana Hoosiers offered him a scholarship, his recruitment was effectively over. Knight, just like his brother before him, was going to be an offensive lineman for the Hoosiers.

“With my brother coming here, I fell in love with the town of Bloomington and everything about it,” Knight told the media last week. The 6’3” lineman from Noblesville arrived in January to begin his career at Indiana. Unlike his brother, he is expected to play center. While leaving high school early can be difficult, Knight has appreciated the head start and is now adjusting to his new “normal”.

“It’s been going good, and it’s definitely different from high school coming in with the intensity of the workouts, and also with school. The days are longer, you’ve got more place to be and just stuff like that,” Knight said. “It’s just more things to do. Waking up at 5:30 every morning, it’s just different from high school and I think I’m getting used to it now.”

The early arrival could help him standout quickly in a large group of offensive lineman newcomers. The 2019 recruiting class was heavily focused on the trenches as IU needed to restock the depth of the offensive line. While Knight is not expected to see the field in 2020, having a brother that has been through this experience is helping him prepare.

“We (Cameron and Brandon) talked a lot about the workouts and where I should be and stuff like that. Using him as a motivation just to see where I want to be and competing with him and stuff like that where he was,” Knight said. “But he’s definitely laid down the guidelines on what everything is about and how to attack these workouts.”

While workouts and training are certainly necessary, Cameron Knight is itching to get on the field and begin his first spring practice as a college football player.

“I’m so excited. It’s been too long since I’ve had pads on,” Knight said. ”It’s getting near and I’m getting excited.”
