The Indiana Hoosiers (9-0, 6-0) were seeded ninth and ranked eighth in the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. The Hoosiers were ranked 8th in the AP Poll and 10th in the Coaches Poll earlier this week.

IU slides down to the 9th seed since the committee has BYU ranked 9th, but because of being the projected Big XII champion, they get slotted into the 4th seed. The Hoosiers would play 8th seed Tennessee in Knoxville.

The seeds for the initial CFP rankings are as follows:

1. Oregon

2. Georgia

3. Miami (FL)

4. BYU

5. Ohio State

6. Texas

7. Penn State

8. Tennessee

9. Indiana

10. Notre Dame

11. Alabama

12. Boise State

The Hoosiers have three weeks left in the regular season starting with Saturday’s home game against the Michigan Wolverines. The remaining two games are a road trip to Ohio State and a home date with Purdue for the Old Oaken Bucket.
