IU Athletics Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana fifth-year senior duo of linebacker Cam Jones and offensive lineman Luke Haggard have each accepted invitations to participate in the 98th annual East-West Shrine Bowl on February 2, 2023, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The East-West Shrine Bowl is the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation. An important part of America’s football tradition, the event gives top college players a chance to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience. Proceeds from the game benefit Shriners Children’s and its mission to provide excellent specialty care for children

Jones was among the nation’s top-10 tackles and sat atop the Big Ten through five weeks with his 55 stops prior to suffering a season-ending injury. His total was bolstered by his first four career double-digit tackle games and at least seven stops in each of his five games before his injury at Nebraska. Just the third three-time captain in program history, Jones had 12 stops in a season-opening win over Illinois and later added three-straight double-digit tackle contests before his injury.

In his career, the Memphis, Tennessee, native logged 209 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks over 47 games played. He earned his first career start against Penn State in 2020 and was a large part of Indiana’s back-to-back January bowl appearances for the first time in program history.

Haggard has played the most offensive snaps in the Big Ten entering bowl season at 903 snaps per Pro Football Focus. The Petaluma, California, native allowed just three sacks in 572 pass blocking snaps and was the No. 9 rated offensive tackle per Pro Football Focus entering the 2022 season.

The East-West Shrine Bowl will be televised live on the NFL Network from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 2, 2023.
