Late Sunday evening Linebacker Tyree Horton announced via his twitter account that the Hoosiers had offered him a scholarship, his third in just a week and a half. The Miami native finished his first season at Highland Community College in Kansas this past fall, posting 63 tackles, including 6.5 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. He also recorded 3 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble.

At 6-foot 1, 225 pounds. Horton has prototypical size to play at either inside or outside linebacker. The talented prospect possesses good instincts and athleticism, frequently making plays in the backfield in his Hudl highlight tape

Horton finished his prep career on a high note, playing a critical role on the defensive side of the ball in South Dade's run to its first ever State Championship. His exploits on the gridiron led to his inclusion on the 8A Florida All-State Third Team and was named the All-Dade 8A-6A Defensive Player of the year.

Before committing to Highland C.C out of high school., Horton reportedly had verbal offers from Duke, FAU, and Purdue. He was also hearing from Illinois, Illinois State, Marshall, and Western Kentucky.

In addition to Indiana, Horton currently holds offers from Arizona State and Arkansas State.  Horton is on pace to graduate next December, making him eligible to enroll for the 2016 spring semester.
