Allen: Penix has 'Been Able to Practice' but is still a Game-Time Decision

Indiana head football coach Tom Allen addressed the media on Thursday ahead of his team’s trip to Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers. During this time Allen gave an update on the status of quarterback Michael Penix, who was knocked out of last week’s win at Maryland in the second quarter.

Allen told reporters that Penix has “been able to practice, so we’ll see, game-time decision. We’ll know at kickoff. According to Allen Penix has been able to take part in “most” of the week’s practices.

Penix, a redshirt freshman, has played in five-of-seven games. In those five contests Penix is completing 69-percent of his passes (100-of-145) for 1,232 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. Junior Peyton Ramsey has stepped in valiantly while Penix has been injured. He too has played in five games. Ramsey is completing 73.8-percent of his passes (79-of-107) and has racked up 843 yards and six touchdowns. Should Ramsey get the nod on Saturday afternoon, the Hoosier offense is in capable hands of a quarterback who has thrown for 4,970 yards in his career as a Hoosier.

The Hoosiers travel west to take on Nebraska at 3:30 ET. The game will be
