Only 16 days remain until the 2019 Indiana football season. The Hoosiers will make their season debut at Lucas Oil Stadium where they will take on the Ball State Cardinals on August 31st at noon. Today we wll re-introduce the defensive back who wore the No. 16 jersey in the 2018 season as No. 22 Jamar Johnson.

Jamar Johnson was yet another talented Floridian recruited to Indiana through Tom Allen’s successfully established pipeline. Johnson’s versatility and speed made him stick out as a valuable asset to the Indiana secondary.

We saw flashes of Johnson’s potential last year— an interception against Rutgers being the highlight of Johnson’s freshman year reel. Johnson was at safety and on special teams last year, showing in 10 games— recording two stops and one pass breakup total.

With a year under his belt, look for more productivity from Johnson as he goes into his sophomore year as member of the youthful, but talented IU defensive backfield. At a loss of its secondary backbone with Jonathan Crawford’s departure, it is guys like Johnson who will be expected to step it up in the secondary.
