The Hoosier Huddle Countdown continues! The season is only a WEEK away; fans, coaches, players, and our staff cannot wait to see this team on the field.  This rising football program will open its 2021 season at Iowa to take on the #16 ranked Hawkeyes next Saturday. Both teams have been putting in a ton of work to prepare for the season and are excited to take the field in front of a FULL-STADIUM. With students back at school, the buzz around campus has been fantastic to see. That said, today, we are profiling Redshirt Freshman Christopher Keys.

Hometown: Collins, Miss.

Position: DB

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height/Weight: 6-0/185

A three-star, according to https://247sports.com/player/christopher-keys-46085400/ in the 2020 class, Keys decided to attend the Hoosiers program over offers from Ole Miss, Jackson State, and South Alabama. He participated at a camp during the 2019 summer, and the next day after the camp ended, he received an offer. At Collins High School in Mississippi, Keys was the No.15 ranked prospect in the state and No.42 ranked cornerback in the nation., He earned many honors in high school, making the 2019 Bernard Blackwell North-South All-Star Football Game and played in the Mississippi vs. Alabama All-Star game. He returned punts, lined up at receiver, and played defensive back, picking off six passes and returning a kick-off for a touchdown.

Last season Keys appeared in three games (Ohio State, Maryland, and the Outback Bowl). This is a good sign for the young man entering his second year with the program. While the secondary is extremely deep, especially since the arrival of former Ole Miss defensive back Jonathan Hayes, Keys still might be able to get some action on the field on special teams and possible a snap or two at the end of games.

After Keys committed, he talked to reporting and was asked why Indiana Football was the right spot for him; he responded by saying, “They got a thing called Love Each Other, they are changing the program, and I see something special there.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-bzi3PJYXs
