On Indiana’s senior day the Hoosiers moved to 11-0 (8-0) as they continued their march to the College Football Playoff. On a day that has seen Texas A&M, USC and Michigan struggle, IU shrugged off a sleepy start to win comfortably.

Aiden Fisher: Back From Injury and Ready For Senior Day

Indiana’s game against UCLA couldn’t have been going better for Aiden Fisher. On the second play of the game, Fisher intercepted Nico Iamaleava’s pass and returned it for a touchdown. One play later, Fisher’s fortunes completely changed, as he got rolled up on, hurting his knee and knocking him out of the rest of the game as well as the following game against Maryland.

Just a few months ago this game was labeled as one of the best on the conference slate. The No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers (9-0,6-0) lived up to their part, but Penn State (3-5, 0-5) has not as the bottom has fallen out in State College. While the luster may be off the matchup, there is still going to be a collision of NFL talent on the field.

The UCLA Bruins (3-4, 3-1) have gone through a resurgence since overhauling their coaching staff after week three. The Bruins are playing with more effort and energy and have become one of the better storylines in the Big Ten. Much of that success is because quarterback Nico Iamaleava is playing more to his potential than at the beginning of the season.

By now, you probably know who Aiden Fisher is. The All-American linebacker had a colossal year leading the Hoosiers defense which was considered one of the best defenses in the country in 2024. Last season, Fisher had 118 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He was a great leader for the entire defense and now that he decided to return, he will be looked at to lead the team once again. But this is a very different team from previous years. With the amount of success the Hoosiers achieved last season, some of the young guys needed a reality check when they first arrived in Bloomington.

2024 was a milestone and memorable season for the Indiana Hoosiers. Curt Cignetti’s first season in Bloomington resulted in a stunning 11-1 regular season record with the lone loss coming in Columbus against eventual National Champion Ohio State. Indiana made the College Football Playoff and battled Notre Dame before falling in South Bend and ending the season at 11-2. It was a school-record for wins and Curt Cignetti was honored as the National Coach of the Year.
