A Look Back at the Bucket Games Past and Hoosier Huddle’s Bucket Game Memorable Moments

Written by Andrew Walker
What’s the lore behind a medium sized wooden bucket with metal fittings on the outside? Have you ever wondered why we, as IU Football fans, hold an antique store piece in such high regard? Why does the team that wears black and gold, sometimes referred to as Purdue, want it so bad? Why does Indiana want it so bad? Too many questions. Allow me to enlighten.
Bucket Game Match-up to Watch: Purdue’s Creativity vs. IU’s Discipline

Written by Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
Every college football fan knows that Purdue’s head coach Jeff Brohm is one of the best and most creative offensive minds in the game. “He does a great job,” Indiana head coach Tom Allen said of Brohm, “(it) makes for a lot of sleepless nights when you try to get ready for the variety of things he may do. I know that’s why they do it. I’m sure they have a lot of fun doing that and try to make our lives defensively miserable. It’s the unknown.”

After Two Heartbreakers Against Purdue, Indiana is Primed to Take the Bucket Back

Written by Amanda Pavelka (@amandapavelka3)
In Tom Allen’s nearly three-year stint as head coach at Indiana, he has yet to win the most prized college football trophy in the state. The last two battles for the Old Oaken Bucket have ended in heartbreak for the Hoosiers.
Last year it was a 28-21 loss that let Purdue steal the show, and the Bucket from the seniors in Bloomington. Coming up just short was the story of the 2018 season— in games and overall, as the loss of the Old Oaken Bucket game put them just short of the six wins they needed for a bowl bid.

Indiana’s Keys to Senior Day Victory over Michigan

Written by Amanda Pavelka (@amandapavelka3)
The 2019 Indiana football squad has accomplished many victories and milestones unmarked in the past 25-plus years. First, a bowl bid in October, a win at Nebraska, and then the No.24 ranking in the Associated Press Poll. This Saturday’s home game against No. 12 Michigan poses as another opportunity for the 2019 Hoosiers to make history. If the Hoosiers want a win for the 16 members of the 2019 senior class’ last home game, and victory over the Wolverines for the first time since 1987, they will have to successfully accomplish the following.
Logan Justus Feels No Pressure, Just Does His Job
Written by Amanda Pavelka (@amandapavelka3) Kickers are some of the most underappreciated players amongst football teams. It is the expectation that college-level kickers kick the football in between the field goal posts, and more often than not, fans do not seem to pay attention until the team misses out on points for their team. First Glance: Hoosiers will Travel to West Lafayette in Search of the Old Oaken Bucket in Week 14

Written by Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
The annual Old Oaken Bucket Game will be held on November 30th at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette this year. The last four Bucket Games have had bowl implications and the 2019 edition shouldn’t be any different. Purdue was won the last two in the series after losing four-straight, while the Hoosiers have been shut out of the postseason two years in a row. Winning at Purdue is never an easy task and this year’s version of the Boilermakers have the potential to be pretty darn good. However, anything can happen on rivalry weekend and the Hoosiers are pretty talented themselves. I expect a raucous atmosphere again in West Lafayette and I think Tom Allen wouldn’t want it any other way. Having this rivalry heat up, is great for the health of college football in the state of Indiana.
Countdown to 2019 IUFB Kickoff: 33 Days (IU Football 1933-1950)

2019 Countdown- #33
1933-1950
Overview
The era of Indiana football from 1934-1950 was a stable, record-breaking era and ended up being one of the most memorable times in program history. Coming off the 1933 season, where the Hoosiers went 1-5-2 under head Coach Billy Hayes, yet another change of coaching staff was called for. There is no sugarcoating it— Indiana football desperately needed someone to come in and pick them from near-ground zero.
Cronk Wants to Spark the Fanbase During Senior Season

Written by Amanda Pavelka
Going into his senior year at Indiana, Coy Cronk has three things on his mind, and none of them involve himself. The Indiana Hoosier fan base, developing mental toughness and being an influential leader to his teammates is what the left tackle cares the most about for leaving a legacy in Bloomington.
