Ranking the Wide Receiving Corps IU’s Defense Will Face in 2018

We continue to examine Indiana’s 2018 opponents as we draw closer to the beginning of the season on September 1st at Florida International. Today we will preview Indiana opponent’s wide receivers. Receiver can be an interesting position to analyze because quarterback play has so much to do with receiver statistics. Historically, wide receiver has been a position the Big Ten has struggled to produce first-round NFL talent; the Big Ten has only had two receivers taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2007, including this past year when Maryland’s DJ Moore was selected 24th overall to the Carolina Panthers. Nonetheless, this is how we see the talent stacking up for the 2018 season.

Any list or ranking done by a human is bound to be somewhat subjective. While I may have a strong opinion about one player being better than another, many of the players (and groups of players) on this list have very little to separate them from the man placed a spot higher or lower than they are. There are also many factors that greatly impact the way we perceive a player. Things like offensive line, offensive system and the quality of the skill position players around him are all critical factors that matter greatly to how successful the individual can be. That’s why football is often considered the ultimate team sport. Taking those things into consideration, one of our regular offseason features at the Hoosier Huddle is to rank Indiana’s opponents by each critical position group. Keep in mind, I am ranking the running back group as a whole, not just one individual running back (in reality, the offensive lines are inherently considered as well). This is my list and these are my opinions, we’d love to hear what you think so please share your thoughts in the comments section!

The spring football season has come to a close in the Big Ten, leaving us with just one thing until the start of the 2018 campaign: one painfully long offseason.
With the conference’s spring games in the books, let’s take a look at the Big Ten power rankings as we head into the dreadful four-month waiting period to see how each team stacks up. But before you digest it all, a quick tip: I don’t put much stock into the spring season, nor what is season during a spring game.
So before you work yourself into a tizzy (young people still say that, right?), keep in mind that I’m not overly concerned with a player’s spring performance, a unit’s dominance in a glorified scrimmage or the look of a team’s starters vs. second- and third-team players.
Big Ten Football Power Rankings Heading into Spring Practice

Even though the college football season doesn’t kick off until August, it’s never too early to start making predictions about how the teams are going to perform in 2018. The Buckeyes are the team jumping out as the frontrunners but it’s shaping up to be extremely competitive with the depth of quality running all the way through the competition.
Big Ten is making a strong case for the number one conference in the nation, with Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Michigan State all being selected in the ‘way to early Top 25’, suggesting that there is a host of teams that are going to impress next term. Although squads are always subject to change, let’s take a look at some early power rankings and see how teams are shaping up so far for next season.

Thanks to the early signing period, the first Wednesday in February wasn’t nearly as chaotic as in the past. But there were still some interesting decisions and last-second signings to round out the 2018 recruiting season.
