Matchup to Watch Week One: Indiana’s Offensive Line vs. Penn State’s Defensive Front Seven

Written by Andrew Walker
The Hoosiers are finally back on the field after a hiatus that seemed like years. This season, things are looking up for Indiana. Their promising young starting QB Mike Penix is back under center, along with most of the offensive line, star running back Stevie Scott, and many others that bring experience and power to the Hoosiers. Their first game back is against the gauntlet that is Penn State. The Nittany Lions come into this season off of an impressive 11-2 season that saw them in the top ten for the majority of the season. This season is not any different, at least in terms of Penn State’s prowess. The eighth ranked Nittany Lions will travel to Bloomington this weekend for what’s sure to be a prove-it game for both teams. Can Penn State retain their offensive and defensive firepower? And can the Hoosiers improve on their record setting 2019 season? This game should be a good glimpse into how both teams will do.

Cream Tops Crimson as Hoosiers Close Spring Practice

Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)
On a windy but beautiful April Friday night in Bloomington, the Indiana Hoosiers concluded spring practice with the 2019 edition of the Spring Game between the Cream and Crimson squads. The offense, led by new offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer wore the Cream uniforms while Kane Wommack’s defense led the Crimson squad. With Michael Penix recovering from a torn ACL and not cleared for full contact and Jack Tuttle out for the spring with an illness, redshirt junior Peyton Ramsey was the sole quarterback for the Hoosiers. The offense gained points through traditional scoring while the defense could accumulate points for three and outs, stops and takeaways. In between quarters, the Hoosiers ran 7-on-7 “skeleton drills” with Michael Penix at quarterback and Stevie Scott and Cole Gest participating at running back. Field goals were also kicked after the first and third quarters and counted for scoring.
2019 Pro Day Preview: Offensive Lineman Wes Martin

Written by Evan McShane (@veryreasonable)
For four years, Wes Martin may have been the strongest player on the Indiana football roster. Martin developed his strength baling hay growing up on a dairy farm in West Milton, Ohio. He’s also very smart. Martin earned an Academic All-Big Ten selection all four years of college. He redshirted his first season in Bloomington. In 2015, Martin proved his worth right away. He played in 13 games and started six as a redshirt freshman. Martin played a key role in an Indiana offense which finished first in the Big Ten.
Hoosiers Shellacked by Hawkeyes

Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)
The Indiana Hoosiers hosted the Iowa Hawkeyes for Homecoming and for the eighth straight time, Indiana lost the annual Homecoming contest. IU fell behind early and never truly threatened the 5-1 Hawkeyes, eventually losing 42-16. Nathan Stanley led the way for Iowa, finding his tight ends often and racking up 320 yards and six touchdowns. The defeat drops Indiana to 4-3 heading into a game against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
