Heading into the 100th Old Oaken Bucket game on Friday, head coach Curt Cignetti said that he wanted the team to end the regular season with an “exclamation point” win over Purdue. His Hoosiers did exactly that, routing the Boilermakers 56-0 in West Lafayette to finish the regular season a perfect 12-0.

The Hoosiers hosted a national TV game on Saturday and showed why they are the second-ranked team in the country with a 56-6 beat down of media darling UCLA. While a 50-point win would be cause for an all stock up report, it is not. Let’s take a look at how IU’s portfolio is doing.

It has been three months since quarterback Fernando Mendoza committed to IU which has given him some time to get acclimated to Bloomington and the team. Mendoza is luckier than other transfers though because his brother, Alberto, already has a year of experience with Curt Cignetti. With Alberto’s assistance, it has made Fernando’s adjustment a lot smoother.

Fresh off of a historic 11-2 season, the Hoosiers are looking to build on their success heading into the 2025 season, with their sights firmly set on a National Championship. The road to the College Football Playoffs began on Saturday as the Hoosiers completed their first spring practice. Following practice, head coach Curt Cignetti met with the media to discuss what he has seen from the team so far.

The 2024 Hoosiers benefited greatly from tremendous quarterback play. Kurtis Rourke came in as a transfer from Ohio and put together an All-Big Ten caliber year and led IU to a program-record 11 wins. Rourke threw for 3,042 yards and 29 touchdown passes to just five interceptions. Rourke is moving on to chase his NFL dreams. The Hoosiers also lost the services of Tayven Jackson who started one game and filled in nicely while Rourke dealt with a thumb injury.
