Recruiting in the state of Indiana continues to go well for the Hoosiers as Tom Allen and his staff secured the commitment from Joshua Sales, a three-star offensive lineman from Brownsburg, Indiana. Sales is the 12th member of Indiana’s 2021 recruiting class that hails from the Hoosier State. He is rated a three-star prospect (87.28) by 247 Sports’ Composite rankings and the ninth best player in Indiana. The 6’6” 275-pound offensive tackle had 18 total offers and chose Indiana over Arizona State and Purdue. Sales made his announement via video on Twitter.
In an interview with Matthew Weaver of Peegs.com Sales said that culture is one of three or four major markers for him and his father. “The culture of the team affects the performance of the team one way or another. So the culture of the team and how everyone interacts with each other is important. The next one is the developmental part in the weight room and on the football field, and even as a person. How much do they put into making sure you are developed to your potential in those three areas. We are also looking at the education for what I’m trying to do and just the overall level of education they have. If there is a fourth thing, it would be the possibility to play at the next level beyond college. We look at how ready they could get me to play if I have the opportunity” Sales told Weaver.
The coaching staff and facilities have also made an impact on the big lineman. “Every time I’m there I love being in (Bloomington),” Sales gushed about the IU campus in the interview with Weaver. “It’s an amazing place and it’s beautiful. Their facilities are amazing and I like the coaching staff. It’s a great staff and Coach (Darren) Hiller is phenomenal. I really like Coach (Aaron) Wellman. It is big knowing that I would be developed by an NFL level strength coach. On top of all that, the academic portion is a good fit because I plan on majoring in business and going for a business degree. Knowing how renowned the Kelley School is, as well as the networking possibilities that would be available to me if I went there, is big. The L.E.O. culture they have there is amazing. When you are there you can really see it and it is definitely real.”
Sales played left tackle for a Brownsburg squad that went 7-4 and won a 6A sectional title. Fans can watch his highlights here.
