While Fridays in any office are exciting, the staff in Bloomington must be really pumped up heading into the weekend.  That is because Rossville, Georgia Native Jermane Conyers committed to the Hoosiers, making him the second target to do so on the day.

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, the 6'3" 290-pound Peach State prospect is the 105th ranked defensive tackle in the nation and the 150th best player in the state of Georgia.  The 3-Star prospect had six scholarship offers, but he decided to pull the trigger on the lone opportunity that would allow him to play at a BCS level program.

#BTownBound: Nick Carovillano is Number 9

Nick Carovillano is #BTownBound, as he has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers Football Program.  The Cincinnati, Ohio native is a rising-senior strong-side defensive end who is considered a three-star prospect by the 247Sports composite.  In the composite he is ranked as the number 38 ranked strong-side defensive end in the nation, and the 61st ranked player in the state of Ohio.  He took to twitter around lunchtime on Friday to announce his decision.

2014 Recruiting Notebook: July 17, 2013

We are inching closer to the halfway point between National Signing Day 2013 and its namesake on the 2013 calendar.  It has been a little over five months now since Kevin Wilson was able to bring in more four-star recruits in a single class than his predecessors did in the 11 previous seasons combined.  However, the momentum that the staff had to close out the 2013 class did not seem to carry over to 2014.  Indiana received their first commitment to the 2014 class on June 2nd, 2013 from Michael Barwick.  Just over a week early, to the day, from when the coaches heard from Isaac Griffith back in 2013.

While on its own merits the news was exciting, Barwick is still arguably the highest rated recruit to join the class thus far, the fact of the matter is that it once again signaled a late start for Hoosier recruiting.  While other programs had already signed handfuls of players, Indiana has just one.  But that’s when the dominoes started to fall again.

J-Shun Harris is Number 8

J-Shun Harris has committed to play his college football for the Indiana Hoosiers.  The Fishers, IN native is a rising-senior wideout who is considered a two-star prospect by 247Sports.  In the websites composite rankings he checks in as the 274th ranked receiver nationally as well as the 26th ranked prospect in the state.  

Harris had been committed to play at Ball State before he received his scholarship offer from the Hoosiers coaching staff this past Sunday.  He informed the Ball State staff that he would be de-committing and accepting his opportunity to play on the Big Ten level in Bloomington.
