Reakwon Jones, ILB, Mosely HS, Lynn Haven, FL, 247 Sports Composite Ranking: 3-Star

After de-committing from Florida Atlantic on January 4th, Jones verbally committed to the Hoosiers on January 19th after a visit that same weekend. Although, it wasn’t necessarily in his plans to pledge so quickly. “Going up there, I didn’t plan on committing, but I’ve always really liked it,” Jones said. “They’re on a positive path. I talked to the coaches and just being around the players and them taking me in as if I’m already on the team and treating me like a teammate was great,” Jones said in an interview with the News Herald. He had an outstanding season for Mosely High School, recording 124 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, five sacks and two interceptions. His efforts were awarded by being selected for the Associated Press Florida All-State 5A First-Team. Jones has drawn some comparisons to the Hoosiers’ freshman standout linebacker, Tegray Scales. Both exhibit great instincts and possess elite athleticism. Jones also has a knack for locating the ball and is capable of slipping blocks, as demonstrated in his highlight reel. With only four scholarship inside linebackers returning for the Hoosiers, Indiana might have hard time of keeping this Florida native off the field next fall. “The plan is for me is to come in and compete with the other guys they have and play my role,” he said. “They said all five should get significant playing time. I’ve just got to know all the stuff, and if I do that then I’ll have a chance to get a starting spot.” In addition to offers from Indiana and Florida Atlantic, Jones also has offers Alabama state, Alcorn State, Buffalo, California, Charleston Southern, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Marshall, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Toledo, and Troy. In the 2015 class, Jones is the 282nd best player in the state of Florida.
