The Indiana Hoosiers have had great success with wide receivers from Lawrence North High School. Donovan McCulley is considered one of the top wideouts in the Big Ten and Omar Cooper is a popular pick for a breakout campaign in 2024. The Hoosiers were considered a favorite to land 2025 Lawrence North wide receiver Davion Chandler so it came as a surprise when Chandler committed to Bret Bielema and the Illinois Fighting Illini a few weeks ago after an official visit to Champaign.

Undeterred, head coach Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers got the speedster to take his scheduled official visit to Bloomington this past weekend and Chandler loved what he saw. He flipped his commitment and will play for the in-state Hoosiers.

Davion Chandler is a three-star prospect with an 87 rating on 247Sports. He caught 40 passes for 779 yards with 13 touchdowns as a junior at Lawrence North and he chose IU over offers from Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, West Virginia, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Purdue. He is a top ten prospect in the state of Indiana in the class of 2025.

Indiana is loaded at wide receiver for the 2024 season but a number of seniors will be moving on and guys like Donovan McCulley could go pro. As a result, offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan and head coach Curt Cignetti have placed an emphasis on acquiring multiple talented wide receivers in this high school class. Chandler joins the electric LeBron Bond in the class and his addition elevates IU to the 41st best class nationally. IU is still pursuing a couple of wide receiver targets, seemingly with a plan of adding a third player to the position group in this class.

Hoosier Huddle will have continuing coverage from the latest official visits as the summer continues.
