Hoosiers Selected for Outback Bowl in Tampa

The Indiana Hoosiers will being heading to Tampa, Florida to play in the Outback Bowl. The Hoosiers finished the year 6-1 with three wins over teams who were ranked in the AP Top 25 at the time of the game. The Hoosiers missed out on a New Year’s Six Bowl as they finished ranked 11th in the College Football Playoff Poll despite being ranked 7th in the AP Poll and 8th in the Amway Coaches poll. The Hoosiers will take on Ole Miss who finished 4-5 in the SEC. The Outback Bowl is played on Saturday, January 2nd at 12:30pm on ABC.
“It is a tremendous honor to play in the 35th Outback Bowl against a great opponent in Ole Miss,” Indiana head coach Tom Allen said. “Our players, coaching staff, medical staff and everyone associated with our team worked hard to navigate through this difficult season, and I am so happy everyone is getting rewarded for their efforts. Making our second-straight January bowl game shows where we are at as a program, and we are not done yet. We look forward to one more opportunity to represent Hoosier Nation! LEO.”
The Hoosiers and Mississippi have never played each other in football. The Hoosiers are 27-22-1 against SEC foes, with their last win coming in 2014 against No. 18 Missouri.
About the Outback Bowl
The Outback bowl is a college football game that is typically played on New Year's Day featuring teams from the SEC and Big Ten Conference or ACC (if a Big Ten team goes to the Orange Bowl). The game is a culmination of a week-long schedule of events throughout the Tampa Bay. The Outback Bowl, originally known as the Hall of Fame Bowl, has celebrated thirty-four years in Tampa.
