Safety Daeh McCullough, son of IU running backs coach Deland McCullough and the 78th best prospect in the 2023 class has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers. McCullough is rated a four-star prospect by 247 Sports and is the second best player in Indiana as well as the 78th best prospect in the country for the 2023 class. He held offers from 16 other schools, but ultimately decided to join his father at IU.
McCullough started his high school career at Blue Valley North in Kansas as his father was helping coach the Kansas City Chiefs running backs to a Super Bowl title. This fall, Daeh McCullough will be suiting up for the Bloomington South Panthers.
At Blue Valley North, McCullough earned second-team All-American by MaxPreps Sports. Hen recently stood out at an Under Armour Camp in Ohio where he earned a “Future 50” invitation.
In a recent interview with 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong McCullough said of IU and head coach Tom Allen, “They’re competitors,” McCullough to 247Sports recently. “Tom Allen is a good guy and ever since he got there, they’ve been winning games. He’s a great coach in general.”
McCullough is an excellent athlete in the secondary with great closing speed at safety and is no afraid to lower to boom on a ball carrier. He played cornerback is sophomore year at Blue Valley North, which fits the mold of what Allen likes in his defensive backs. Allen has brought in several defensive backs who played corner in high school anded as they grew bigger, moved them to safety in college. It has been a very successful formula. McCullough is listed at six-foot-two and 195 pounds on his 247Sports profile.
