The Indiana Hoosiers picked up a commitment from defensive back Deland McCullough II, as a transfer from Miami (OH), after he entered the transfer portal on Friday. McCullough II is the eldest son of current Hoosier running backs coach Deland McCullough. He played in three games at Miami (OH) since 2019.

The Hoosiers were one of 17 schools to offer McCollough II a scholarship out of high school, joining other Power Five teams like Kentucky, Rutgers and USC on the list. McCollough II decided to attend his father’s alma mater in Miami (OH) where his father ranks second on the school’s all-time rushing list.

McCullough II’s younger brother Daeh committed to the Hoosiers 2023 class a short time ago and his other brother Dasan is committed to play at Ohio State.

He will play safety at IU, a position Allen wanted to add depth to through the transfer portal. While not having much playing time at Miami (OH) since the Redhawks only played in two games last year, McCullough does bring a level of college experience and could find his way on the field through special teams. He will have four years of eligibility remaining. He was listed at six-foot-one and 191 pounds on the Miami (OH) roster.
