A few weeks before the Fourth of July holiday has the Hoosiers sending out more Booms than the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular in New York City. On Wednesday morning another cannon blast was sent out by head coach Kevin Wilson as Ohio running back Cole Gest committed to play his college football at IU. Gest, a 5'8" 180 lbs. running back from Lakewood, Ohio powerhouse St. Edward's is ranked as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He is listed as the 124th best running back prospect in his class and the 66th best player in Ohio. Gest was the latest recruit to laud the Hoosier coaching staff that "treated me very well". He also went on to say that Bloomington and IU just "feels like home".  When our own Nick Holmes saw Gest participate at one of IU's football camps he displayed great quickness as well as the ability to make adjustments on the fly. He also has good hands to catch the ball either in the slot or out of the backfield. Nick added that he already has the physique of a college football player.  Gest is listed as a running back by recruiting services, but the Hoosiers could move him all over the field on offense.

Gest's commitment to the Hoosiers gives the 2016 class eight members and has boosted their rating up 27 spots in 247 Sports team rankings to 58th. Gest's offer list was littered with MAC teams such as Bowling Green, Toledo, Kent State, and Ohio.
