Donaven McCulley Feeling at Home at Wide Receiver

On Saturday junior Donaven McCulley talked the talk and walked the walk, proving his doubters wrong and imposing his will. The quarterback turned wide receiver wowed the crowd with his one-handed touchdown catch and his presence of mind to know he wasn’t down on a catch and run.
On the day, he tallied five receptions for 67 yards and the touchdown and picked up two critical pass interference calls.
“I've always felt like that just go out there, like every play and just just tell yourself you're un-guardable. Just try to impose your will because I feel like I'm six five 210 pounds.I need to impose my will almost everywhere so that's a big thing for me.” McCulley said after the game.
This season, McCulley has had a couple key drops resulting in some visible frustration. But his performance yesterday made up for it. It is no surprise to coach Tom Allen that he’s growing into a future wide receiver one. During spring practice, the former four star quarterback had a spectacular one-handed catch and impressed many.
McCulley even stated comically that Allen would get mad at him in practice for trying to catch it one handed.
As far as the difficulty of the catch. McCulley agreed that It was extremely difficult but also catable because of his mentality and work ethic.
“It was a difficult case. I was like ‘oh you had two fingers on it.’” he said. Who was not shocked to have caught the pass from Sorsby.
McCulley also drew a couple key penalties on Badger defenders. His response to being asked about the pass interference.
“That was just some acting I guess” McCulley laughed with a bit of sarcasm to his answer.
He is built like a receiver and knows he can excel at the position. McCulley has much room to grow into an NFL type talent.
“Now I’m like a real wide-receiver” he said when asked about his transition.
McCulley's recent performance solidifies his potential as a star wide receiver, showcasing his remarkable skills and determination. His transition from quarterback to wide receiver has proven wise, and his journey from underdog to emerging star is a testament to his dedication and promising future in football.
