TGIF! Another week down. Two more to go until the first game day. As former Hoosiers are making splashes around NFL preseason camps, the two current Hoosiers wearing the number 15, Ben Bach and Nick Westbrook are trying to make their own impressions on the coaching staff in Bloomington.

Ben Bach

  • Ht/Wt: 6-1/200
  • Position: Defensive Back
  • Year: RS Sophomore
  • Hometown: Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South

Bach is in his third season in the Hoosier football program. He made his way to the Cream and Crimson from Warrenville South High School where he played defensive back and was a teammate of IU punter Nick Campos. Bach redshirted his first season as a walk-on and won scout team player of the week versus Ohio State.

Last season Bach did not see any game action, but again won scout team player of the week versus Ohio State.

The Hoosiers' staff has high hopes for Bach, as he manned one of the starting corner spots in the spring game and has occupied that spot so far throughout camp. Whether or not he keeps that spot remains to be seen, but IU could use a corner with Bach's size. At 6-1 and 200 lbs. Bach can be more physical in the run game and with bigger receivers. Expect him to get plenty of playing time in 2015.

Nick Westbrook

  • Ht/Wt: 6-3/205
  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Year: Freshman
  • Hometown: Lake Mary, Fl. Lake Mary H.S.

The dynamic pass catcher from Lake Mary, Florida had a spectacular senior season making 80 grabs for 1857 yards, 19 touchdowns and was subsequently named to the Florida All-State Class 8A Football Team. The talented playmaker broke several school records during his time with the Lake Mary Rams, including career total receptions and receiving touchdowns, as well as single-game records in receiving yards and touchdowns. At 6-foot 3, 205 pounds, Westbrook provides Indiana with another big-bodied target that should make life easier for Hoosier quarterbacks. He is rated as the 176th best player in the state of Florida by 247 Sports’ Composite Ranking and is listed as a 3-star prospect.

Westbrook will also be in the rotation for playing time as head coach Kevin Wilson has hinted that he may play as many as 10 players at receivers. His size will give the Hoosiers something they were lacking a year ago.
