Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 46 Days (Aaron Casey)

The Hoosier Huddle annual countdown to kickoff forges ahead. Today we focus on linebacker Aaron Casey.

Name – Aaron Casey 

Position – Linebacker         

Year/Hometown – Redshirt Sophomore from Douglasville, GA (Alexander HS) 

Height – 6’2” 

Weight – 234lbs 

Aaron Casey chose the Hoosiers over 20 other schools. The three-star recruit was rated by 247Sports as one of the top-100 linebackers in his class and was the #76-ranked linebacker by ESPN. The versatile athlete also lettered in basketball and soccer at Alexander High School in Georgia.

Casey redshirted his first year on campus, earning scout team player of the week honors on defense and special teams on multiple occasions. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Casey appeared in all 13 games, mostly on special teams.

Casey blocked a punt in IU’s win over Easter Illinois and recorded a sack in the win over Rutgers. The young linebacker and emerging special teamer clearly has a nose for the ball. Now entering his redshirt sophomore season, he hopes to see the field even more. The sky is the limit for Aaron Casey if he keeps making plays.
