Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 67 Days (Christian Love)

#67

The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff has begun. Just 67 days remain until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2019 season in Indianapolis against the Ball State Cardinals. Today we will highlight defensive lineman Christian Love.

Christian Love (Redshirt Freshman)

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 293 Pounds

Hometown: Detroit, Michigan

Position: Defensive Lineman

Christian Love joined the Indiana program as a walk on during the 2018 season from Detroit Country Day School in Detroit, Michigan. Love was first team all-state in 2017 posting 62 tackles, 26 of which were for a loss, and 8 sacks. Love was also a two-time letter winner in basketball, another representation of Coach Allen’s affirmation of multi-sport athletes.

Love redshirted the 2018 season but did earn scout team player of the week honors in the week ten victory over Maryland. Projecting towards 2019, Love will have more of an opportunity to make an impact on the defensive line as Jacob Robinson, Mike Barwick, Nile Sykes, Kayton Samuels, and Jamarez Bowen have all departed. Numerous of Love’s counterparts along the defensive line will have been playing high school ball last year, so with a year of development over his competitors, he should be more in the mix.
