Name: Aaron Steinfeldt
Position: Tight End
247 Composite Ranking: 3-star (86.39)
High School: Bloomington North (Bloomington, Indiana)
Bloomington’s own Aaron Steinfeldt signed on the line to stay home and play for Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers today. It was Allen and company’s talent development and caring culture that made the decision easy for him to stay in Bloomington and become a ‘hometown hero.”
Steinfeldt earned IFCA’s Indiana Mr. Football position award for his high-performing senior season where he racked up 31 passes for 601 yards in nine games. Steinfeldt leaves Bloomington North with 1,444 career yards on 94 passes, 12 touchdowns, and high standards for himself as he carries his football career to IU.
“I’m excited to be apart of this program because of the expectation to win,” Steinfeldt told Hoosier Huddle.
Without question, Steinfeldt has the talent and skills to become a competitive Big Ten tight end. Like other incoming freshman, he’s just lacking experience and weight. Packing more muscle on his 6-foot-5, 235-pound body will prepare him the most this offseason.
“Some of my goals is to make some strides to the weight room so I’m ready physically for Big Ten competition,” Steinfeldt told Hoosier Huddle, “I’m also wanting to get my head in the best mindset to step in and give it my all for the best of the program.”
Steinfeldt joins one of IU’s deepest position groups with the tight ends. His weight room gains and development in the off-season as well as Peyton Hendershot’s decision to stay at IU or enter the draft will hugely impact Steinfeldt’s opportunity for touches in his first year. I expect to see him to see the field in at least four games next season, and that he will have an impactful career at IU.
