2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 18 Days (Blaze McKibbin)

Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today’s profile features junior walk-on quarterback Blaze McKibbin.

Name: Blaze McKibbin

Hometown: Santa Monica, California

Position: Quarterback

Year: Senior

Height/Weight: 6’5”/225 pounds

McKibbin comes to IU as a walk-on, but in the only quarterback with multiple seasons of experience. He started his career at Fresno State before transferring to Long Beach City College. He is an interesting prospect but may be in the room for his experience and depth.

In an article by 247 Sports’ Jackson Moore said:

“The 6-foot-5 and 210-pound athlete was a three-star recruit out of high school, according to 247Sports, and picked up offers from Cincinnati, Nevada, San Jose State and Louisiana (Lafayette). As a high school junior, he led Gardena (Calif.) Serra High School with 1,742 yards, 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in six starts. As a senior, McKibbin led the Anaheim (Calif.) Servite High School offense against the nationally recognized Southern California Trinity League powerhouse programs.”

In 2023, McKibbin will most likely not see the field and is more of an insurance policy just in case injuries wreck the room again.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 19 tomorrow!
