The Hoosier Huddle 100 Day Countdown is nearing the halfway point, and with it comes all the excitement for Indiana football. For day 65, we’ll be taking a look at true freshman RB Trent Howland out of Joliet, Illinois. Be sure to stay updated with everything IUFB news on HoosierHuddle.com and on Twitter @Hoosier_Huddle.

Name: Trent Howland

Hometown: Joliet, IL

Position: RB

Year: Freshman

Height/Weight: 6’3”/230 pounds

Trent Howland from Joliet, Illinois is a part of the incoming class for Tom Allen and co. Having not played in his senior season at Joliet West HS due to COVID-19, he still found a place on the roster for this season due to his stellar junior year. Having rushed for 1401 yards and 14 touchdowns in his third year, he led the team to the school’s first state championship in 50 years.  Howland also played three years of basketball, but missed his senior season due to a knee injury.

In December Howland told Matt Weaver of Peegs.com that he chose IU “ because of the coaching staff. Coach Allen is a really religious person and he’s a really good man, and because of that I know what I am getting myself into. I also have a close connection with God, and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in right now. The rest of the coaching staff is absolutely amazing.”

Ranked no. 16 prospect in Illinois heading out of his senior year, Howland finds his spot on a Hoosier team already stacked full of talent at the RB position. Howland is coming off an October ACL injury and if he is 100-percent he should get a chance to break into the running back rotation.
