Rankings: 3-star, #3 Pro-Style JUCO QB

After a record-breaking season under center, Nate Sudfeld has graduated and leaves Indiana with the daunting task of replacing him next season. Enter Richard Lagow. After spending last season at Cisco College in Texas, Lagow comes to Bloomington looking to win the starting QB gig and keep Indiana’s high-octane offense at the top of the conference for the next two seasons. Lagow signed his letter of intent back in December, and will have all of spring ball to win the spot heading into the summer. Lagow chose IU over other offers from Colorado State, Memphis, and UNLV.

With a frame almost identical to Sudfeld’s, there is no question that Wilson likes a larger player to run his offense. Lagow’s size allows him to survey the field easily from inside the pocket, and his tape demonstrates the ability to make all of the throws that will be required of him in Kevin Johns’ offense. After spending limited time at both Connecticut and Oklahoma State, the only real question that remains is if he can put it all together. Last year at Cisco College, Lagow completed 66 percent of his throws for 2,285 yards, and accounted for 21 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

With a great blend of size and skill, Lagow is the type of player that can really excel in IU’s system.  He heads into spring ball projected as the top quarterback on the depth chart, and barring anything unforeseen, Hoosier fans should be expecting Lagow to start against Florida International on Thursday, September 1st. Gaining an understanding of the offense as well as developing timing and a sense of comfort with his receiving targets this offseason will ultimately be what determines the level of success Lagow will see in 2016.
