Written by Avery Jones

Jonah Morris, Athlete, Akron, OH, Archbishop Hoban, 247 Composite Ranking 3-Star

Morris is a very talented outside linebacker and tight end from Ohio. He was originally committed to Michigan State University but decommitted last November. He took an official visit to IU on January 22nd and committed just two days later. Morris also holds offers from thirteen other schools including Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Pittsburgh. He is rated by 247’s Composite ranking as the 13th best player in Ohio and the 18th best “athlete” in the nation.

Although Morris had previously played on both sides of the ball in high school, including outside linebacker and tight end, it seems as if he will play on offense here at IU. His height of 6-4 and incredible speed give him an edge when going up for passes. He is the same height as Simmie Cobbs Jr. and could prove to be just as beneficial to the team’s offense.

In his senior year of high school, Morris caught 38 receptions for a total of 784 receiving yards. His longest reception was 47 yards and he had 9 receiving touchdowns. Defensively, Morris also excelled with a total of 41 tackles. His overall athleticism is what makes him a great addition to the Indiana University football team. He holds great potential and could be useful in more than one way.
