Not referring to a country, city...literally the most beautiful spot(s) where you stood there in awe or thought this is the most amazing, beautiful place you've ever visited.
I'll go....
The south rim of the Grand Canyon. I had always heard the GC was amazing, but nothing said does it justice unitl you visit. I'd like to go back and see it and hike more. It just makes you realize how old this planet is for this canyon to exist. It literally brought a tear to my eye. I've heard the north rim has experienced some damage due to wild fires. I'd really like to step onto that glass platform to look down into the canyon.
If the GC is my #1, I'd like to give honorable mentions to the Great Wall of China. It's incredible to see what man can build. Two others would be Machu Picchu and Gokyo Peak in the Himalayas. Due to the peak altitude of 17,500 it was the most challending slow climb of my life but at the peak allowed amazing views of the Himalayas including Everest.
Montauk Point, NY. Especially at sunset or sun rise. Nothing but ocean.
@thehoosierhuddle I’ve never heard of the place. I’ll have to look it up.
@thehoosierhuddle oh damn, never gotten as far as the Hampton on LI. That area has been on my list,
Mt Cook, New Zealand. Beautiful Lake Pukaki... my family and I could not believe how blue the water was, and how beautiful the area was. Very special place, on the south island of NZ.
Zurich, Switzerland! At one point on the trip my wife and I just sat on the side of the lake and this (more or less - took it from Google) was our view. Just so stunning and peaceful

Good thread! I need to see a lot more. I was on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and it was amazing, but honestly, not as awe-inspiring as I expected. Visiting the NPs in Utah is a great start: GCNP, Arches, Zion, Bryce and Canyonlands all yield some amazing views. Dead Horse Point SP near Arches and Moab was amazing also; right up there with the NPs.
Sometimes it's not just the view, but the vibe/emotions a place emotes that is striking. Cruz Bay in St Johns was amazing, and frankly, an AirBnB we rented in St Lucia was pretty amazing. From the deck you were looking out at the Carribean blue waters, a little bay/harbor and mountainous hillside, that almost always had a rainbow somewhere in sight. Think we paid $180/night and it was fantastic. I slept out on that deck several nights because I couldn't get enough of the views with the ocean, clouds and ships.
Probably Bali, the ocean, the forests and mountains, the waterfalls, the beautiful people. Can’t pick one place there. The sunsets….
Rocky Mountain National Park and all the other area around Estes Park, CO, and along the Big Thompson River. Hands down.
@goat curious, how long ago since your last trip to RMNP?
At the moment, Cannes, France. Did a day trip yesterday with a local and never seen anything like it. Stunning and surprising because we weren’t expecting it.
@mohoosier why am I guessing someone was just walking behind a beautiful, curvy French woman yesterday? Could definitely sway results!
Anyone been to Monterey, California? 17 Mile Drive / Big Sur area there is absolutely gorgeous.

Estes is our favorite vacation spot. We go every couple of years. One year we stayed up in the mountains southwest of Estes. Beautiful, but when the air in Estes seemed thick explained the problem. Carrying our suitcases to/from the car was a challenge. No more of that.
Last year we did Glacier and Lake Louise up in Banff. Glacier was really nice, but Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are stunning. I would put them on a list of most beautiful.
