I think V and VI are quite a bit better than IV. Hamill and Ford improved a lot in between, in my opinion.
And Lucas didn't direct them, which is important.
V is the best of the bunch by far, and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
I’m currently watching the Bad Batch. Clone Wars was terrific, @sarahemillernp5026 and I are doing a run through the Star Wars timeline.

Yeah but you're a rom-com fan boi.
V was a rom-com set in space. I'm just not into rom-coms no matter where the setting or how technically better the acting or directing is.
The acting, dialogue and directing were better, no doubt but technical aspects do not always make something better. In storytelling, the story itself is what is important and in that area it severely lacks.
IV is iconic. The Heroes Journey. It also changed how films were made.
VI is demographic charged trash and the story was dumb AF. Oh yeah, I also forgot about your love of cuddly teddy bear movies.. lol ... so I understand why you like it. He didn't have an ending because he used the ending in IV. So regurgitate another Death Star. Weak..
fwiw - to the rest of you - there's probably no reason to watch 7/8/9, with Filoni taking over, they will be remade, retconned and removed from canon eventually. Rian Johnson did his best to ruin that series and he succeeded.
@evanalvarez8 I'm 60 so was a kid when the original trilogy came out. I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch the sequels, but all I can say is the last two movies hurt my inner child. I'm not in therapy but perhaps should be. lol Several years ago I had my oldest grandson watch the original trilogy with me. When Vader told Luke, "I am your father" my grandson turned to me in shock and said, "Papa, what did he say? Is it true?" I loved that moment.
While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

That is so sweet - a memory to cherish for a lifetime right there. Your grandson will be a fan for life as well!

A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"

I actually think Rogue One might be the best star Wars movie. Or, I dunno, they are all kinda overrated.
