Spent most of the year thinking we'd get routed by the Euros, but with it being in the US and Scheffler returning to form, I've allowed myself to harbor hope for an American victory. With the new format, the 6 autos are: Scheffler, Spaun, Schauffele, Henley, English and Dechambeau. So, who would you add? I thought Bradley should only play if he made 1 of the 6 autos, so I'd have him out. Frankly, I hated that generation of guys for the Ryder Cup as we routinely had higher ranked guys and still got beaten more than we should have, so I like the turnover. JT was next and I'd pick him, Morikawa and Ben Griffin as they were the next 3 anyway and I like having different style of players. Some interesting possible selections of young guns in Gotterup, McNealy and Bhatia. Think I'd go with Gotterup for his bombing and pass on McNealy and Bhatia. Think my other two would be Cameron Young and Sam Burns. The guys that I would most strongly consider next are Cantlay and Harman. Both seem like gritty, "team chemistry" type picks. I like allowing the Captain more picks to try and get "his guys".
Who would you pick, and do you like the new format?
We are -145 favorites, plenty of reason to have hope.

@spartans9312 so our difference is Morikowa/Gotterup vs McNealy and Cantlay? I probably feel better about Cantlay in a pressure event like the Ryder Cup, but Morikowa has been solid lately. Gotterup was a flyer for me, but he showed some mettle at the Scottish and British Open and his distance is a nice tool to have in the bag. Why Maverick? It's the name in part, no?

Putting on Poa…Bradley went with Collin who I don’t have much trust in right now
@spartans9312 at least he didn't pick himself! Captains picks: Justin Thomas, Colin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cam Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns. Chalk on the first 3 in order of results, but then skipped down several to Young, Cantlay and Burns. I like it.
Keegan Bradley made a tough choice...he loves the Ryder Cup and certainly could have made an argument that he was deserving of playing but he made, in my opinion, the right call and passed on playing. I am no fan of watching Patrick Cantlay play golf but I can understand selecting him. Personally, I think Europe has the better and deeper team but it's going to be REALLY tough for them to win with the event at Bethpage Black in Long Island. Should be a ton of fun to watch!
Morikowa has been awful this year, and changing caddies like he's changing shoes. I don't see him as a good pick.
Griffin... shot +6 in a major and came back to finish -3, yet I'm not sure he's ready either.
Probably would have taken Gotterup (long ball hitter) and Harmen (won a major) over these two.
Glad Keegan passed on playing... didn't think this would be wise.
