After a career of World Cup medals, Olympic Medals, horrible crashes, 20 surgeries, 20 rehabs, and a 6 year retirement, she hit the gym and the slopes and is back with a couple of World Cup finishes at 1 & 2 this weekend. At 41 she claims she is stronger and faster than ever I can’t imagine the kind of mind it takes to do what she is doing I hope somebody makes a movie of her career no matter what happens this season

my guess is her docs said “your ACL ruptured - can’t do it any more harm - keep the swelling down and you can compete” and her sponsors said “no play - no pay” -and the USOC said “bring your big ole .. name to Italy and show the kids around” - and she tried, got paid - and broke a leg!
A sports medicine guy told me that a good custom made external brace will provide a more stable knee than a surgically repaired ruptured ACL. I asked him why that kind of brace is legal, he said good question.
