Vinyl LP’s. are back.
In the late 90’s I gave almost all my Vinyl to goodwill. By that time everything was on CD. Then came iPods etc that made cd’s obsolete.
I kept a vinyl box set and a few other box vinyl sets for reasons not clear. Thought about digitizing all of it but never pulled the trigger. Had a turntable but never used it because it has to be plugged into my Bose Lifestyle 20 year old system. Too much inconvenience.
I added a Bluetooth adapter input for the Bose years ago through which I play my library of stored music on different devices. No complaints.
Fast forward to 2025. On sheer impulse I bought a Bluetooth enabled turntable from Amazon. It has a decent cartridge and hooks into the Bose from anywhere in the house. I’m back to vinyl. It really does sound better even to my electronically-assisted hearing (or is it my imagination; who cares?)
long story short. I’m on Amazon looking at more vinyl to buy. Next up Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, The Stones Sinatra, and a few more.
My kids are really enjoying the sound of vinyl. I think lots of kids in general like all things vintage. My dad has been slowly giving me lots of his collection. He's got a ton of folk and jazz. His biggest collection is classical and opera. At some point I hope to mature enough to appreciate classical. I fear that may never happen.
Check out
1812 Ovature
Capricco italien
Rhapsody in Blue ( kinda jazz too)
William Tell
Bolero
Hallelujah
Saber dance
Russian Dance
Overture from Carmon
I like BIG classical music. Lots of neat stuff out there.
@co-hoosier 1812 Overture, Rhapsody in Blue and Bolero I've heard. I'll throw these others on the spotify. Thanks for the suggestions.
We're developing a vinyl collection. I have Rhapsody in Blue. Cash. Patsy Cline, Sgt. Pepper, Dark Side, Wish you were here, and a couple hundred others we've scavenged from family. I haven't even cataloged it all yet.
Vinyl is cool. I find it gets me back to listening to entire albums as the artist intended. It's also fun shopping around looking for deals and finding stuff you'd otherwise never listen to.
