If we truly wanted to increase faith in the integrity of our federal elections, an election denying conspiracy theorist wouldn’t be put in this position.

https://www.propublica.org/article/david-harvilicz-homeland-security-voting-machines

No one has done more to create distrust in our elections than President Trump and he did it purposely. Rudy Giuliani said under oath twice that he and the others in the administration knew they were lying about voter fraud in Georgia and elsewhere. He testified to that in his civil trial in Georgia, which he rightfully lost, and also in an interview with Smith’s team where Rudy is one of the coconspirators. Because of a deliberate misinformation campaign by the President and his team millions of Americans still believe the 2020 election was stolen. It’ll take a long time to undue the damage they’ve done.

But all this is totally worth it, if even one fraudulent vote, which had no impact on any election, was allowed to stand...you know, because more votes (5 or 6) may be able to sneak through at some point in the future.

No, the politicians against the Save Act are and they can restore faith if they pass it.  However, election integrity isn't their objective.

My drivers license satisfies the save act.

Interesting aricle

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who know binary and those who don't.

And Republicans know that making voting more of a challenge benefits them. I

Let’s assume that’s true.  Why is that a reason not to enact reasonable identity safeguards as a condition to vote?

If this is a problem, the Democrats could easily establish a ground game to get their voters qualified.

There is nothing reasonable about the voter suppression law

What’s not reasonable is your soft bigotry.  Why do you think women & minorities are too dumb, lazy, or poor to prove their citizenship?

Why does a bigot like you think women should have to jump through extra unnecessary hoops?  Afraid of who they will vote for?

My opinion has nothing to do with thinking they are dumb and lazy.  Either you are a dumbass or an asshole

Not if it was issued by Colorado, it doesn't.

Very misleading. The critical issue with the save act isn't the voter id, it's the proof of citizenship.

Exactly. No serious person objects strongly to voter ID like we have in Indiana, but the proof of citizenship requirement for registration is onerous and will suppress voting. And I'm not convinced it won't suppress as many or more Republican voters than Democrat.

Not long ago I didn't have a birth certificate or passport. If I had moved to Texas or wherever I would have had to jump through all those hoops before even getting to register, yet alone vote. I may or may not have done it, depending on the time frame, but I can bet you there are a lot of people who would just say fuckit.

Even more nefarious, the first version of the SAVE Act submitted two years ago didn't even include a voter ID law. It was only a proof-of-citizenship requirement, that's it. But it failed, and so now they tacked on a voter ID law to try it again, that way they can falsely portray any opposition as opposition to voter ID, when it's not, and never has been.

Isn't there also some anti-trans language or something included as well? It's like Trump is trying to put together another Big Beautiful Bill with all kinds of unrelated provisions, hoping to get support from across the MAGA spectrum.

No, that's not in it. The version passed by the House and that is being considered in the Senate doesn't have anything of the kind in it. That's just President Trump lying about it to rile up his easily duped followers. The House would have to pass another version with it in it and restart the clock. It's not going to happen. Republicans will just let followers who like anti-trans stuff believe it's in it, and many absolutely do, but it won't be.

Thanks. I was thinking about a Trump post of some sort I'd seen that had that in it. I guess I'm easily duped. Silly
