The stupid RFK DOGE fallout crap is still going on. NIH told me that a grant application I had recently submitted was inconsistent with NIH objectives because it involves climate change studies. The grant was to make antiviral drugs for a notorious mosquito borne virus. They did a keyword search and saw a sentence in the background that read "Pandemic concerns for mosquito borne viruses have increased in recent years with the expansion of range of carrier mosquitos with climate change"
I resubmitted with a modified sentence "Pandemic concerns for mosquito borne viruses have increased in recent years due to the invasive nature of carrier mosquitos"
Set me back 6 months, but hopefully it flies.
Now due one that says that Climate change affects ICE Officers reaction time to innocent lesbian mothers and gay nurses mental confusion.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they had a bunch of interns looking at the social media posts of the people with grants. I'm sure you can imagine what his twitter account looks like during the early part of Covid. Being unhinged in public as a professional has consequences and I'd lay dollars to donuts that his tweets got his grant yanked.
