Is Europe paying more in NATO?  Is the border closed? .........  Is deficit spending decreasing?  Are murders down?  I could go on and the answer to all those questions is, yes.

1)  I wouldn't say the "border is closed".  Illegal immigration is vastly reduced, but it is not closed.

2)  Deficit spending in 2025 was down from 2024 (1.78 from 1.83), but outside of 2020/21 (Covid spending), it was still the highest it's ever been and the CBO is estimating that spending in the first three months of 2026 is 600 billion, which if that trend is not reversed soon would result in 2.4 billion this year which would be a 25% increase from last year.

3)  Murders were already trending downward.  I don't think I can really point to anything that Trump has done to help reduce that.

1.  It's an expression of speech

2. CBO predicts a lot of things and gets a lot of things wrong (including the prior year)  It will be lower than 2 trillion. Also, comparing the deficit as a percentage of GDP is a better measurement.

3.  It's the lowest in 125 years.

I have little faith in the numbers for myriad reasons.  SO maybe they were and maybe they are down now.  But assuming for the sake of discussion they are rhetoric and narrative make a meaningful difference. Policing and crime are local.  But when you have Harris supporting defund and an administration fanning the flames of cops are bad and victimhood and bail projects are a good thing then you get predictable results.

Trump is anti those things and you don't see the supportive rhetoric of the Soros backed DA's etc with this administration and party.  It matters.  The same holds true for the border.  Illegals are unwelcome is the message of the Trump admin.  That's a marked contrast to the prior and it has a deterrent impact.

1) True.  Just wanting to get things right as the "He's closed the border" seems to be a common statement I've been hearing a lot lately.  Similar to the whole "We are now energy independent" statement that the right was throwing around in 2018 which was a mischaracterization of what the actual situation is.

2)  OK.  TBD.  We'll reassess in 9 months.

3) How exactly did Trump "Free up local police"?  Be specific.

Also, statistics have generally shown that illegal immigrants were responsible for about 2.2 homicides per 100,000 individuals, so deporting that half-million resulted in a grand total of 7 less murders.  Sure, every murder prevented is a good thing, but I don't think that the deportation spree is a significant contribution to the falling murder rates.  It's been in a downward trend for 4 years now.

The amount of people ICE has murdered undermine any reduction they have accomplished

I am not sure what exactly he meant.  I think Mrs. Washburn alluded to some of it above. I attribute most of it to the closing of the border.  I don't think the statistics you quote are accurate or they're being manipulated to sell a narrative.  The fact it's the lowest in 125 years makes me think I am right.

That stat was based on Texas but I think your point holds.  The twitter person should have coupled deportations with also the number of illegals not getting into the country.  Last I looked I believe there are as many as 13,000 still on an non confined docket with a history of homicide.  I think.  And to be clear that docket pre-dated Biden as well, significantly.  That wasn't all Biden's doing by any means.

But if we are to believe data I think the material difference is the holistic anti crime climate Trump has created vs the Soros' climate created by the Biden administration.

@sharinincarmel just stopped in your local neighborhood Whole Foods this afternoon. They had about a few clusters of king crab legs left on ice. Only $52.99/lb.!

Better rush over before they're gone!

I went there to ask about the free beef, but all I could get were some filets for $42/lb.
