@larsiu This is also what you get with useless representation. That goofy mayor should hold a conference to say do not interfere with ICE, if you’re an instigator local police will arrest you, and we are opening an investigation into the shooting and the DA has been notified
Won't happen. Gotta virtue signal. Still haven't seen Frey or Walz out on those front lines with the protestors, eh? Farquads, the lot of them.
My friends keep saying my "swerving right" has been interesting to watch. I advise I've barely budged an inch. As the lead executive of a city or state, your politics come second to your responsibility to maintain order in the streets. If that makes me a bootlicker or whatever, ok i guess. I just like order b/c it's orderly.
To be sure, my friends are also smart and self aware enough to not disown me, lefty commies that they are, and can engage in good faith discussion.
I'm just lost on why letting the protestors run the streets of Minneaoplis unopposed by anybody other than the agents they so hate is beneficial to anybody there. I can't imagine ICE wouldn't immediately let the local authorities know where they were going or what they were doing if there were actual coordination between them. And, I feel like that lack of coordination is mostly due to the mayor and governor. Maybe I'm wrong.
@larsiu Welcome to the dark side.
Nope, I still believe in drug legalization and medicare for all. I'm all over the place and always have been. I defended Clinton for philandering and Bush for snorting coke in his 20's. I also like Al Gore. Big Howard Dean fan back in the day too.
Center left for life.
I read that, and they're right. This shooting of a 2A believer, father and husband, who obviously wasn't threatening ICE, is very likely a turning point."The Administration spin on this simply isn't believable. Stephen Miller, the political architect of the mass deportation policy, called Pretti "a domestic terrorist." He was a nurse without a criminal record. To hear the ardent gun-rights advocates of the Trump Administration claim he had malicious intentions because he carried a concealed weapon is bizarre. The agents may say they felt threatened but it's worth noting the comments over the weekend by police around the country who say this isn't how they conduct law enforcement . . . This is backfiring against Republicans.
"Mr. Miller's mass deportation methods are turning immigration, an issue Mr. Trump owned in 2024, into a political liability for Republicans in 2026. Americans don't want law enforcement shooting people in the street or arresting five year-old boys."
Ryan talking now. If there was any kind of serious oversight of ICE, they wouldn't be just suspending operations in Minneapolis but installing new leadership and retraining many of these agents who are obviously out of their depth. Fat chance of any of that happening, though.

If your friends do ostracize you, I'll be your buddy. I don't care if you're shit lib or MAGA-X, I'll still love ya. Plus, if we both get divorced I'll need a wingman to bang the fat ugly friend.

Yes. This is the sensible take.
Is it possible to "observe and record" more than 12 inches in front of the ICE agent? I know I know. But he most certainly impedes the agent's personal space to "get in his face." Just 2x that camera and you get the same shot. My take is, again, poke the bear all you want but don't be surprised if it turns on you. In this case, the bear is an armed agent of the fedearl government who should damn well know better and be able to control his emotions. That's why he's likely to be prosecuted.
I may have missed it, but what I saw was Pretti keeping a reasonable distance until the ICE thug when after the women, when he then got between them. He was then in close proximity briefly before he was taken down.
I guess Mark I don't understand the motivations, or thought processes, that lead a person to engage in a physical altercation while carrying a concealed weapon. I'm sure were he to have lived through this altercation there would be a small part of him (or large, who knows) that would reconsider his own actions that day.
Yeah, that was stoopid, but I don't understand anyone feeling the need to conceal carry under any circumstances. Regardless, being stoopid with guns shouldn't be a capital offense, or so we've been told... until now.
@larsiu Welcome to the dark side.
He better tread lightly. It can happen in a flash. Before you know it you're wearing a pair of tight wranglers, driving a big truck, and buying Bitcoin. Life can come at you fast.
Side note, I am buying myself a Cowboy Hat at some point in life. Just not sure for what occasion. Also, try the wings at Friendly Tavern in Zville. The locals love them.
He was in his face in the middle of the street before he was pushed back by ICE, then the lady thing, then physical altercation, then shot.Is it possible to "observe and record" more than 12 inches in front of the ICE agent? I think Trump's going to (rightfully) throw the agent to the wolves.
How would you apportion responsibility for this horrible death arising from an emotionally charged chaotic situation?
I see the relevant players as:
1. Walz and Fry who compared the federal officials as Nazis and gestapo, obviously with the intent to introduce emotions to ICE operations. In addition they instructed bystanders to video ice operations to document assumed atrocities.
2. Left- wing groups who posted on various media the time and place of ICE operations with the intent of having demonstrations and protests happen and causing general chaos at all ICE operations.
3. Pretti himself who chose to follow the social media to be present at the time and place of this operation, while carrying a 9 mm handgun. He further chose to confront ICE agents after he saw an agent push a subject to the ground.
4. The 6 ICE agents who removed Pretti from the scene, one of whom yelled gun!
5. The unknown number of bystanders incessantly blowing whistles contributing to chaos and making communications among the agents difficult.
6. The agent(s) who actually fired at Pretti.
7. Those responsible for training and directing the agent in question that morning.
I doubt the agent awoke that morning with the intent to murder a bystander, so what facts and circumstance motivated him to pull the trigger? Where did the motivation come from? At the moment of firing, what did he see, hear, and think?
Remove some of these factors and Pretti would be alive. All of them played a role. Did the agent who pulled the trigger supersede all the contributing factors? All of this needs to be investigated and evaluated. My own opinion is the agent is not solely responsible for this death.
Sure, calling Pretti domestic terrorist is inappropriate. But he wasn’t there by chance. He was directed to that specific place at that specific time by means of a social network intended to encourage confronting and obstructing ICE agents in their work at all times and in all places. Pretty voluntarily inserted himself into the melee.
He inserted himself between a woman who was being roughed up and an out of control thug and was murdered for it. Otherwise he was a bystander who was observing and recording, not impeding or interfering in any way.
Let me preface this by saying, the ICE agent that shot Pretti (if it was only one, I'm not sure that's entirely clear) should be investigated and prosecuted if that's what the investigation leads to (which it looks like it most assuredly will).
But

all that to say, the ICE agent should be brought up on charges and the battle should be between the authority of the state of MN to do so and the feds to protect him from same.
During the scrum with the lady and the agent, all he did was get in between the two with his hands up, then was trying to get her up when he was taken down. He never engaged with the agents until they took him down.
I'm normally with you on stuff like this, but this was way escalated by the agents when it didn't need to be.
@snarlcakes As God as my witness one of closest buddies had a party in ZVILLE we all went to. On our text we asked attire? He wrote back: preferably like a horseman 🤣. He wore $3500 cowboy boots that he couldnt get off
