@sharinincarmel

So just nuke Minneapolis, I am sure you would find it enjoyable.

I am tapping out, you refuse to engage beyond "Democrats evil".

I have been watching some videos from a lawyer, mostly about police violating civil rights. He has a case from Loveland, CO, about a woman arrested for walking in the road. Look it up, it is interesting. As is the one of a guy whose house was raided based on an anonymous tip. But he ends his videos with something like, "freedom is messy, get used to it."

@arthur-dent Prosecute the bad actor. No problem with that. As for Dems my tolerance is zero. Whether it’s this shit, inflation, it’s just cleaning up the messes they create while they continue to bitch and moan.

Only 700k?  Man, I thought they might do more than Obama, without politically motivated executions on the street and with all those extra bucks from your precious beautiful bill. What happened?

@arthur-dent I think it’s we either enforce the law or we don’t.  If we do I think bad events are going to be unavoidable.  That’s why a smart border policy is key not the Biden policy.

Otherwise you’re going to be in the world of agents. Trump hired 12,000 of them. They make $24 an hour to start to go out in shit weather and deal with woke lunatics, criminals, people who are scared and desperate, people who bite your finger off, etc.  You want that gig?  Few with options do.  So you’re going to get blockheads and some undesirable results.

@spartans9312 I’ve read a few joking digs actually.  It’s Marv 👍

Ask him if he owns Bitcoin.  If he says no, it's not Marv.

What is "The View"?

I wonder what GWB thinks of these parts of Homeland Security and what they have become, and their tactics.  I was a big supporter of it being formed, part of why I supported GWB. Bet he didn’t imagine a secret police force engaged in, rather than fighting, domestic terrorism

You just got dragged all night long on here.  Go to bed and get a good nights rest.  Come back strong tomorrow.

Heather Cox Richardson is always a gas. Loves to describe herself as a “Lincoln Republican”, but decries what she sees as the authoritarian nature of modern Republicans. The irony is lost on her. Obviously.

The Jews at Dachau were legal residents taken from their homes as much as I can tell. A difference in kind.

@arthur-dent No doubt some are racist.  And some don’t like brown people.  What does that have to do with the law?  They’re legal or they’re not.

Just what I said, you use progressive and Democrat interchangeably. They are not, so I reserve the right to use Republican and racist interchangeably.

I am trying hard to argue the moderate position. Tone down rhetoric on both sides. Back off to lower temperature. Create new policy that is less shock and awe and return to enforcing the law. If the mayor broke to law, charge him LATER. Hold government, at all levels, accountable. Again, the first shooting agents refused a doctor's help then blocked EMTs. Where is the accountability?

The left is not correct in this, but neither is the right. We need a middle road.

I said elsewhere, I have no idea what is Trump and what is his aides. Trump speaks about only going after worst of the worst right now, but that isn't what is happening.

Conservatives back in the days of Buckley would not find Noem lying as she did acceptable. You don't comment on that. I don't follow the Minneapolis mayor, but if he has encouraged interference that is wrong. We need both to shut up and get out of the way. Both. Neither side has clean hands. Stop trying to sell me this is 100% a liberal or Democratic problem, or even progressive. I am not at all denying culpability from the left. I love people protesting, I fully supported the Jan 6 protest up until they attacked the gate. Same here, show up, record, all is great. They have a constitutional right to call ICE names but I wish they wouldn't. But interfering is a step too far. If you interfere, ala King and Gandhi, link arms, be non violent, expect to be arrested.

This isn't a "Democrat" problem but it is a Minnesota Democrat problem. Walz and Frey and the members of their party in Minnesota who are using Signal to thwart a legal duty of the Federal government.  All of the issues stem from that seed.  So far there have been plenty of other Democrat controlled states that have not had near the issues as Minnesota so I don't lay the most egregious behavior at the entire Party's feet (yet), but Walz and Frey and the Minnesota state Democrats, 100% they are the main issue.

Then clean up the mess while also following the law. Focus first on the violent criminals, like you promised. Train your officers to not be undisciplined hacks and vigilantes.  Is that too complicated?

The guy they were trying to pick up the Pressti was shot was a violent criminal (domestic violence among a handful of other charges).  They still had Minnesotans trying to interfere.  There is a segment of the left (I think a very large segment) whose position on the border basically amounts to open borders and they are not going to accept that anyone deserves to be blocked except criminals.  They don't accept that you can/should turn normal people away at the border unless they are criminals. They say because of that one group (criminals) that they won't let in that they are not for open borders.  I think that is a bull shit lie.

You say to focus on the law, well the law is that if you aren't legally here, get to stepping.  Have things been more aggressive in Minnesota?  Yes, but maybe that is because Minnesota is running a low level insurgency against the government which has ratcheted up confrontations in the state.  If Cam Higby on Twitter is correct and they were running a signal app to thwart law enforcement and those people involved included state politicians who were receiving funding from foreign countries, I want them to burn.  Thrown in prison like J6 people for conspiracy and left to rot until the FBI sorts it out.

I. Am. Done. With. The. Leftist. Heckler's. Veto.

Again, Google it, Obama counted differently than every other President on what constitutes a deportation. His numbers are artificially inflated because of it.

The Jews at Dachau were also killed as government policy.  Shooter was just participating in Godwin's Law, every other country on the planet can enforce immigration rules but if the US does it we are marching people off to death camps.  Anyone making that connection isn't arguing in good faith.

Maybe progress, the mayor posted this tonight:

I spoke with President Trump this afternoon and appreciated the conversation. I expressed how much Minneapolis has benefited from our immigrant communities and was clear that my main ask is that Operation Metro Surge needs to end. The president agreed that the present situation cannot continue.

Some federal agents will begin leaving the area tomorrow, and I will continue pushing for the rest involved in this operation to go.

Minneapolis will continue to cooperate with state and federal law enforcement on real criminal investigations — but we will not participate in unconstitutional arrests of our neighbors or enforce federal immigration law. Violent criminals should be held accountable based on the crimes they commit, not based on where they are from.

I will continue working with all levels of government to keep our communities safe, keep crime down, and put Minneapolis residents first.

I plan to meet with Border Czar Tom Homan tomorrow to further discuss next steps.

So the mayor does not believe violent criminal illegals should be deported unless or until they commit crimes here.

That’s pretty insane.
