Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle campaign sparks intense criticism
AE will resurrect itself now i bet. i didn't even know it was still around
I feel like AE made a bit of resurgence right after COVID. My daughter was asking if we could go there and Aerie right around that time (Aerie is owned by them and connected to most of their stores). I know in the last Christmas or so an AE gift card has been on her list.
Partnering with Sydney Sweeney seems like striking while the iron is hot. This genes/jeans fracas seems to me like a minor inconvenience/speed bump to things.
So don't buy the jeans. God this crap is exhausting. I don't think these annoying woke responses are evidence that someone like Trump should be followed and supported...but man, they sure are annoying as hell.

Someone needs to remind them that they were designed for a purely transactional experience. They have no value other than that.

There’s also something about nose rings. These things just have to damage brain tissue or open up escape routes for brain matter to leak out. Every young - and not so young - woman we encounter who has a nose ring is as dense as concrete. We actually dealt with one last week while buying tickets for the ferry to Mackinac Island. “Ohhhh, you mean the boat on the water? . . . .”

@mcm666 I have to admit, I really had no idea who this Sweeney girl was. Had heard the name, but no idea what she has done or why she’s “famous.” Looked into her bio and she seems to be just another here today gone tomorrow “actress.” Maybe I’m wrong; maybe she’s the next Grace Kelly. What do I know?
But why all the angst over her in a jeans ad/commercial? She’s attractive. Why not use her? Seems like basic marketing/advertising 101. I’ve seen plenty of fat, slobby women and cringy gay dudes. But a young white woman now equals Fascism? Give me a fvckin’ break. This is just warped.

@univee2 my youngest had a sleepover last weekend with one of her friends from school. We go and pick her up and I look back to say hi to her and she's got a God damn nose ring.
