Battleships are an obsolete concept and we're not going to build any.

Follow up with something that is also going to happen with our ships - the Littoral Combat Ships (unfortunately nicknamed Lousy Combat Ships because of their numerous issues through development and deployment) are going to stay around for a while. They were all to be decommissioned long before their end of service life, but it's been decided that we need them. I agree. They're going to replace the Mine Countermeasure Ships we're decommissioning and cover some frigate missions as well. At this point many of the issues they've had have been addressed and corrected, so I'm for this decision.

There will be no battleship. I talked to a guy who was an officer with me on my first ship last week while in DC. He's now in Ship Programs as an engineer. He confirmed what I suspected, they haven't even gotten to square one with any battleship plans. That just came out of the President's mind with no discussions with those that could make it happen.
