It’s surprising this admin isn’t being more forthright here. They are pointing fingers at a weird weaponized immigration fairytale and the war on drugs while our real interests are Venezuela’s oil and keeping the wrong Venezuelan govt from Guyana’s oil.
It's getting very tense in senior military circles. There is a vigorous debate about whether the summary executions of the gun runners is legal or not and whether orders to take them out are lawful. Now Commander SouthCom, Admiral Holsey (I don't know him), is resigning after only 1 year in a 3 to 4 year assignment. The rumors I'm hearing is that he's resigning because of these strikes and being very uncomfortable with them. They are unprecedented and JAGs are advising that they're very probably unlawful. Like any good officer he's keeping his opinions to himself for now.
There's also the fact that he's black and Hegseth has been purging black and female Generals and Admirals without any stated cause for it. Could be that Hegseth just hates women and blacks. It's probably getting to be a mutual hatred at this point.
Bing is black and a Colonel one step from flag rank by the way. I don't think he's the shoe in for flag that I once thought he was.
