I know this is a tough concept for some, but everything does not, in fact, equal everything.

The ridiculous comparisons indicate a serious lack of intellect.

Do either of you have anything substantive to say?
This clip raises some crucial and important questions about the nature of state and local government.
My first thought is whether or not learning history and civics is worth anything today? As a corollary, when we learn history, how are we to know what is important and relevant, and what is not?
For example, as we consider the world impact and importance of the Declaration of Independence, how important is it to also know and consider the fact tha Jefferson had sex with a black slave? It seems to me we are moving away from an event- determinative history, and towards a personality- determinative history. When presidents used federal authority and troops to enforce civil rights in some states, there were no law suits and not a whole lot of controversy. Nowadays, using federal authority to enforce immigration law, controversy, street violence and litigation proliferates. Our history and laws are the same. The difference is people and how they view law.
don’t bite my head off but…..I know this is a tough concept for some, but everything does not, in fact, equal everything.

a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (less than fifteen years ago) when an illegal immigrant committed a crime in a large blue city (eg. What we call “sanctuary cities” today) they were reported to ICE/DHS as they entered the criminal justice system. This happened A LOT in the Obama administration.
Im not certain ending that practice isn’t a provocation that helped clear the road for the overreach we see today.
the point I think Hansen and others in this thread are trying to make is that we are a nation of laws and we believe in the rule of law. Subverting that is dangerous.
I don’t waste my time doing anything other than responding in kind around here. Nobody has shifted positions anyway.I know this is a tough concept for some, but everything does not, in fact, equal everything.

Oh, and I stand by my original sentiment.

Why would posting thoughtful insightful material be a waste of the, while posting pointless in kind material is a productive use of time?
