@snarlcakes I think the horseshoe theory applies. The further right or left you go on the spectrum these days the more grievance based, group identity based and conspiratorial the politics seems to become.
Although I think the classic political spectrum we all think of is inadequate or not applicable for measuring today's politics.

@bradstevens I understand. I think it’s overstated. I’m not taking the time to read it but what I glean from your take and the excerpt is that we waited until it was too late with the left. Now they are the party. The right will suffer a similar fate if we don’t nip it in the bud. Again the flaw in this logic is why would we thwart the will of the people. If the right wants that so be it. It’s the same with the left. I hate it but so what. If they want a socialist dei open border country and have enough supporters so be it. I leave the country or I live with it. That’s how it all works
