On a more positive note, PepsiCo is slashing prices on many snacks by 15%. Word on the street is because of restriction on using SNAP benefits to buy junk food.😆

Yeah, it could be hurting them from a soft drink standpoint, but their Frito Lay division isn't too worried...at least here in Indiana. The wife works in social services and some of her clients are on SNAP so she has been made aware of what they can still use SNAP for and snacks like Potato/Corn Chips are still SNAP eligible. You'd be surprised with the things that are still allowed. You can't buy Hostess or Little Debbie types of cakes, pastries or pies but you can buy things like Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls from the refrigerated section or Edwards or Pepperidge Farm cakes and pies or even cheesecakes from the freezer section. Can also use SNAP for 100% fruit juices, even fully sugared and can also buy Chocolate Milk and Ice Cream since it's dairy. Can't use SNAP for a Hershey Bar but can for Twix, Butterfinger or Kit Kat since they use flour. Can also use SNAP to buy Granola and Cereal Bars which are basically a candy bar/snack cake nutritionally speaking. And of course, the ultra processed convenience meals (canned/refrigerated/frozen) like lunch meats, microwave meals, Chef Boyardee type garbage is still 100% SNAP eligible.
So while I'd like to think that these changes were of a societal benefit with healthier outcomes I doubt that's the case. I reckon all it's really going to do it push folks from one set of poor choices to another set of poor choices.
