Why not consider it welfare for farmers? More people able to buy food, more money for Joe farmer.
Why do you think it's administered by the Agriculture Department.
Feds also buy up all the excess dairy and grain to keep the prices up. That stuff gets distributed through food banks.
@larsiu shouldn’t be too many. I think snap is only a little over 100 percent of pov. Walmart pay should eclipse that
@unclemark for sure. But if there’s a spouse, assuming a lot, two Walmart workers would be outside of snap as long as they don’t have ten kids. I bet two Walmart min pay workers with two kids is outside of snap.
again that’s why my thread on progressives and 42 million on snap was so compelling. 42 million is a staggering figure. If we have that many poor WTF would you 1) not want socialism if you’re in that group and 2) support progressive shit
socialism. F yeah. Bring it.
@mcm666 there is a lady I know from elementary school. She had kids, divorced, ex died. A daughter became addicted after having 3 kids. The person I know became foster parent for them. Very noble of her I think.
She qualifies for SNAP. She discusses all the rules she has to follow. For anyone to watch the kids for her requires a significant check on them, so much so you can pretty much only use a few specific daycares. They are full. She wasn't allowed to leave them with a friend or relative for an hour to run errands. She undergoes a financial audit I believe every 6 months. Everything is checked, bank accounts, cars, pay checks, anything she owns. She makes a little over, she loses all aid. She is very frightened about this shutdown.
She could have said, "let's make it somebody else's problem" but didn't.
Below is Google AI::
Example income limits for a 3-person household (48 states)
Gross monthly income limit: $2,888
Net monthly income limit: $2,221
Housing is high everywhere right now. Take housing out, buy clothes, and school expenses, buy gas to get to work and back, insurance, that money doesn't go too far.
@arthur-dent for sure. And what a weird counterintuitive thing to be cognizant of. If I get a raise I eclipse the threshold and lose snap. Disincentive.
there are ways to make it. Rural Midwest etc. but if that isn’t where you were born etc that’s a nonstarter for many. This is no longer a country to be poor.
I blame Biden in part. Bc he’s a blinkard proxy but bigger than him I think history will look back at Covid as large of an inflection point as ww2. But for the worse.
we have a country where tens of millions are in trouble. And tariffs and all that won’t do shit but make it worse. Every moment a democrat campaigns should be spent on making America more affordable. Every thought. Every penny. Every speech to that end. And be open and transparent.

Starving Democrats await food stamps so their kids that they don't want can eat.

I have to believe that a goodly amount of the hoops she's having to jump through are from being a compensated foster parent, not a SNAP recipient.
@qparker Direction of this thread shifted once everyone realized the OP was nonsense.
