First, yes. This could go in the "Flooding the Zone" thread, but I believe the topic warrants its own thread. Robert Mueller, suffering from Parkinson's Disease, died yesterday at 81. Trump's reaction (which I initially thought was a fake quote): "Robert Mueller just died. Good. I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people." Mueller and Trump were both born into money and reached adulthood during the Vietnam era. Trump faked a medical condition and received multiple deferments to avoid the draft and service in Vietnam. Avoiding STDs, as he once commented, was Trump's "own personal Vietnam." Mueller volunteered for service and was a decorated combat vet of the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Valor for rescuing a fellow Marine under intense enemy fire. He later had a distinguished career as a prosecutor and longtime director of the FBI. This is an understatement, but Trump is a horrible human being and an embarrassment to his country.

Bob Mueller was a scumbag of the highest order. Tried to take an innocent person and destroy his life over what he knew was bullshit. That's not an honorable person. That's one of the most disgraceful persons imaginable. Same words will be spoken when Mike Nifong kicks the bucket.

You are an absolutely despicable human. Have been forever. This, and the fact that you’re the dumbest poster on the WC, by far, make you totally worthless. Assholes like you have absolutely ruined the GOP.

On Sunday's Meet the Press:

Kristen Welker: “Do you think it’s appropriate for the president of the United States to celebrate the death of an American citizen, someone who’s a Bronze Star, Purple Heart recipient and who served in Vietnam?

Scott Bessent: “Kristen, I was with the president in the green room at Davos and there was a video playing of what may have been an illegal raid on his home at Mar-a-Lago. They are going through his wife’s wardrobe. And I watched the look in his eye, and I think that neither one of us can understand what has been done to the president and to his family.”

Welker: "Robert Mueller didn’t order that raid. [Note: Mueller had nothing to do with it. His role as Special Counsel ended in May 2019 and he retired, three years before the Mar-A-Lago search]. Is it appropriate for the president to celebrate the death of any American citizen–”

Bessent: "I think that given what has been done to President Trump and his family it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has been through."

Welker: "So, you don’t think that there’s anything wrong with the post, saying, ‘Good. Robert Mueller’s dead?”

Bessent: "I think that we should all have a little empathy for what has been done to him and his family.”

So Bessent lied about Mueller, and simply repeated his canned talking point about "empathy" for Trump after Trump celebrated a war hero's death.

Bessent has no integrity, and no balls. Sad.
