Two songs really take my mind back to high school, both for the same reason. In our football locker room, they had just installed steel cage type lockers, as opposed to the older solid sided ones. One of my teammates got an extra locker and brought in an 8-track player, and for some reason, only 2 tapes...Some Girls by the Stones, and the first Cars album. These two albums were on continuous loop at top volume for before/after practices and games for over 2 years.
So the two songs that always take me back are Miss You (Stones) and Good Times Roll (Cars).

Ex wife’s dog, tho we got it together 16 years ago
Wait a minute, I'm starting to believe you might not actually be a hot Carmel cougar!
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
1st one I thought of..........HS in the early 70's
for those too young to remember, the 70's were the sh!t
@drjb Old fckr you! My pop wore a Jethro Tull silk jacket. Can you imagine?
@drjb No but he would do curls with the intent of eliminating the space between his biceps and hands on breaks from painting this:
@drjb There are no words to describe how powerful that guy was Dr Jb. And I'm a dirty old broad but I've lifted since before I could drive. It was a hell of a thing to feel his clutch on your arm after having mouthed off with And Your Wise Men Don't Know How It Feel Feel Feels To Be Thick As A Brick as the score to your life.
Ex wife’s dog, tho we got it together
Ex WIFE???? Did you get married before or after playing women's college soccer? You barely even TRY....
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
Tough break on the dog, though. Loving dogs means that you have one redeeming quality. I have had dogs my whole life, except when in school. All pretty big dogs, 50-100 lbs, so none got to 15, sadly. My current buddy is 10 and is starting to slow down a little.

Mid 80's. MTV. Sweet Child 'o Mine. Sitting on friends water bed in summer. Mind blown. introduction to MTV. Lord what a downfall that is (for me too probably)
Can you believe that we pretended to understand these lyrics back in the day?
"I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt turn it inside out
Find nothin' but faith in nothin'
Want to put my tender, heart in a blender
Watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous then I'm through with you"
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
Sitting on friends water bed in summer
Why was it important to us readers that it was summer? You were on a water bed, it was wavy, kind of going back and forth. Would it have been different in the spring, winter??
Now, lets discuss this "friend" who's bed that you were setting on, in Summer. That seems to be more important to our time here (of which you have 16 minutes left in this session).

I believe this is the summary you're looking for. Cheesy lyrics, but a decent Gex X summation. Also kinda explains how Weezer came to fruition...
About a boat that sank in the lake
At the break of the morning
A Cat named Stevens found a faith he could believe in
And Joan Baez
I never listened to too much jazz
Eddie Rabbitt sang about how much he loved a rainy night
ABBA, Devo, Benatar were there the day John Lennon died
Mr. Springsteen said he had a hungry heart
Grover Washington was happy on the day he topped the chart
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Slayer taught me how to shred
I got to admit though
Sometimes I would listen to the radio
Tell me that you think we're all alone
Michael Jackson's in the mirror
I gotta have faith if I want to see clear
Never gonna give you up
Wish me love, a wishing well
If the Fresh Prince starts a fight
Don't you worry for too long
I wasn't havin' any fun
'Til my roommate said
"Come on" and put a brand new record on
He was naked on it
Then I heard the chords
That broke the chains I had upon me
In some rehearsal studios
Then we played our first rock show
And watched the fanbase start to grow
To make a record of our own
Song come on the radio
Now people go, "This is the song."
Oh man - a lot of songs take me back to happier times.
For a split second in college, I was in a band. We weren't great, but damn for a few months it was fun playing the part. We played two shows. One at a house where a bunch of the Xavier swim team lived and in a club house in some apartment complex on the west side of Cincinnati for someone's birthday. I have no idea how we got to play at either place.
There were a lot of songs that remind me of that time, but this one always takes me back to those moments sitting around, strumming guitars and sort of taking ourselves seriously. I don't think we ever actually played this - I don't know if we could have pulled it off - but whenever I hear the first few guitar notes I can close my eyes and see everyone in the room exactly how they looked in the mid '90s.
