@arthur-dent the media and coverage is the difference. and that race is a central component to the left's platform
Smollett was a B-list celebrity. That's why the media reaction to his hoax was so much louder. Nothing more.
I think the general thread should be on race baiting. Have at it.@bradstevens so when people were posting using his name they were really commenting on a Harris or others? And they didn't necessarily use their name as done sort of cleaver tool?
I think the woman I linked and Smollett have some form of mental illness and that is why they did what they did. While bad, infinitely better than grabbing a gun and going on a mass murder spree.
But if the point isn't them, then let's start a general thread on partisan overreactions. There are a lot of them out here. Oh wait, such a thread would eliminate the need for all other threads as virtually ever thread starts, or ends, that way.
Partisan overreactions is a small part. The larger issue is willful ignorance, deliberate indifference, and dishonesty. There is a reason why more Democrats take mental health meds than republicans.
fact check:
Political affiliation does not correlate with poor mental health or an underlying medical need to seek mental health treatments.
But
Political affiliation does influence attitudes toward mental health services and medication, and ultimately deciding whether to go UNTREATED or NOT.
Going untreated seems to be a "thing" for MAGA types.

A certain segment of the population wants to talk to a therapist more than another segment…I’m shocked I tell you.
