@ohio-guy There are actually many rock songs that are overtly or barely disguised religious songs. Mostly classic rock because it wasn't always uncool. Lyrics to Prince's The Cross:

Black day, stormy nightNo love, no hope in sightDon't cry, he is comingDon't die without knowing the crossGhettos to the left of usFlowers to the rightThere'll be bread for all of usIf we can just bear the cross

Sweet song of salvationA pregnant mother singsShe lives in starvationHer children need all that she brings

We all have our problemsSome big, some are smallSoon all of our problemsWill be taken by the cross

Black day, stormy nightNo love, no hope in sightDon't cry for he is comingDon't die without knowing the cross

Ghettos to the left of usFlowers to the rightThere'll be bread for all, y'allIf we can just, just bear the cross, yeah

We all have our problemsSome are big, some are smallSoon all of our problems, y'allWill be taken by the cross

The crossThe cross

A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"

For the life of me I don’t understand what people see it Christian Rock. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a good Christian Rock song.

Looked like a great memorial otherwise

Ya, no soul in that.  The Pentecostals really can show other white Christians how it’s done.

@spartans9312 This isn't necessarily directed at you, but I keep seeing that line about 'they have no idea what they've unleashed.'

I'll be honest, I'm not sure who 'they' are or what is being is being referred to. I knew of Charlie Kirk, but outside of the clips everyone is debating these days, I didn't know too much about him.

That said, a religious revival or movement with Trump anywhere at or near the helm isn't a good thing or something that should be cheered on. I do know Trump is a liar, grifter and a conman. Anyone who doubles down their faith in a movement supporting or led by him is eventually going to be severely let down.

That is the way I read that as well. Like you…I think they missed the mark.

I'm with you on this one.

To each his/her own, but I don't get the whole 'rock' scene in church either. A woman I dated took me to a service at her church and it was essentially a quasi-rock show. I fully admit that I probably had trouble relating because it's not what I grew up with, but it just seemed off.

A guy I went to high school with seems to know a lot of people in the rock music circuit. He's always posting pictures of him with Christian rock bands around the midwest. He seems happy - I just don't get it though.

Kirk Franklin, back in the day, was jam worthy at times.
